Firm History

  • Orr, Dignam & Co. traces its origins to a British India–era legal practice established more than 150 years ago in the 1860s. The firm name preserves the legacy of its early British partners, Mr. Orr, and Mr. Dignam, who practised law in the major colonial commercial courts and served trading houses, shipping interests, banks, and infrastructure clients.
  • Over time the practice evolved into a globally recognised commercial law house serving corporate and institutional clients across the subcontinent.

The original Articles of Association of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) was prepared by Orr, Dignam & Co. and adopted on 27.02.1939 at The Statesman House, New Delhi
